Cohabitation Agreements and Marriage Agreements
Our planning lawyers can help you create a marriage agreement or a cohabitation agreement. These are often called “prenuptial agreements” or simply a “prenup”. A cohabitation agreement is for couples who live together who are not legally married. A marriage agreement is for married couples, or couples who are contemplating marriage. Both documents plan in advance for how assets will be divided upon a breakdown of the relationship. Like most things in life, planning in advance can help eliminate disputes and costs in the future.
These agreements are usually complimented by other planning documents, such as Wills, Powers of Attorney and Representation Agreements if these documents are not already in place.
